Saivan is an old Romanian word and means “winter shelter for sheep”.
The guesthouses of La Saivan *BioRetreat & Farm* are situated on a plateau with a view of the Moldavian River valley and the Rarău Mountain in the background. This is a unique place specifically built for those who want to experience nature and life on a traditional Romanian farm unchanged.

The Guesthouses
From each of the 3 guesthouses at La Saivan, you can start your day with a perfect view and beautiful sunrises, as they are all facing south towards the valley. What could be better than enjoying your breakfast coffee in the warm light of the morning sun? Since a real experience from the old days is offered here, the wooden houses are furnished with antique traditional furniture and decorations. Although you won’t miss modern comforts like electricity, central heating, hot and cold running water, and modern toilets, one thing you won’t find here… a television!
The Big House (Casa Mare)
It dates back to 1918 and was originally located in the village of Molid. It was the second house, after Casa Mica (the small house), to be moved to La Saivan *BioRetreat & Farm* in 2017.
It has 2 queen-size bedrooms with private bathrooms, a large living room with a sofa and a huge stove, a spacious attic with a sofa bed and a bookshelf, and a fully equipped kitchen. The capacity is between 4 and 8 people, making it perfect for 2 couples, 2 families with children, or a small group.
When renting Casa Mare, you can also use the pavilion, a fully equipped outdoor kitchen with a large grill, a wood oven, a smoker, and a small smoking house.
The Small House (Casa Mică)
Casa Mică is the first house that was brought to La Saivan *BioRetreat & Farm* in 2016. Originally located in the village of Vama, it dates back to 1926.
It is built in the classic Bucovina style. Its interior is divided into 2 large rooms with a stove and a fireplace, one of which has a stylish queen-size bed, a large private bathroom, and a spacious attic with a sofa bed, accessible via the internal staircase. The house has 4 sleeping places, making it perfect for a romantic weekend getaway as well as for a family with 2 children or a small group of friends.
The Very Small House (Casa Foarte Mică)
The very small house (Casa Foarte Mică), originally located on the road between the villages of Vama and Molid and also built in the traditional Bucovina style, features a large single room with a queen-size bed, a large stove, and a private bathroom. It is ideal for solo travelers or couples.
