The Fortress of Kronstadt | Cetatea Brasovului 😍😍🇷🇴
(4 October 2023)
The Fortress of Brasov (Kronstadt in German) is a fortification built in the 15th century on Straja Hill to ward off enemy attacks.
https://kronstadt-erleben.de | https://discover-brasov.com
Throughout its history, it was repeatedly attacked and rebuilt, and was even an important defensive point during World War I. Originally, there was only the fortress tower. The outer fortress was built between 1630 and 1631. The horseshoe-shaped central tower has three floors and has served several purposes over the centuries: it was used as a warehouse, was a prison for Turkish prisoners in the 18th century, and later, during the plague, a special ward was set up for the sick.

A September day in Kronstadt (Brasov) | Beautiful 😍😍🇷🇴

Sarmale… a magic word and simply DELICIOUS 😍😍😍🇷🇴
(17 September 2023)
Sarmale are not prepared according to the same recipe everywhere in Romania. Depending on the region and individual tastes, they vary from place to place, even in size.
Sarmale contain meat wrapped in grape leaves or pickled cabbage with other ingredients. Sarmale can also be meatless (vegetarian) with vegetables. We present a special recipe from Moldova with meat filling.
Add the following to 1 kg of minced meat (pork, beef, chicken, or a mixture):
– 4-5 medium-sized onions
– 100 grams of rice
– Salt and pepper – one teaspoon each
– Dill and parsley – to taste
– Tomato broth (150 grams)
– 4 tablespoons oil (if using chicken)
If using lean meat, add a few tablespoons of breadcrumbs or cornmeal to help bind the mixture. Mix the ingredients well and then wrap them in grape leaves or cabbage, depending on your preference.
Cook for about two (2) hours. To do this, place the sarmale close together in a pot and pour water over them. If the liquid in which the sarmale are cooking runs low, add hot water to compensate. Check after the first hour of cooking and then as often as you deem necessary.
The recipe matches the pictures. We would like to thank “Mama” Postolache 🥰 for the recipe and her daughter for her work and the pictures.
The ingredients make around 120 sarmale. These are usually eaten with smantana (sour cream) and ardei iute (hot peppers). White bread and mamaliga (made from cornmeal, similar to Italian polenta) are also served, depending on the region.
We wish you pofta buna (bon appétit) 😋🥰

Friends of the Nadesch Church Association | Mures County 😍😍🇷🇴
(15 September 2023)
The Protestant church in Nadesch was built about 170 years ago by the citizens of Nadesch (Transylvanian Saxons).
The village of Nadesch (Nades in Romanian) is located in the district of Mures, about 15 km north of Sighisoara (Schässburg in Romanian). The valuable church organ from 1807 was built by Samuel Maetz and, like much of the church, has fallen into disrepair over time and is in need of restoration and renovation.
For this reason, the Nadescher Kirche e.V. support association, which supports work to preserve and renovate the Protestant church in Nadesch (Transylvania), was founded a long time ago.
Anyone interested in the church or who would like to support the association/church can find all the necessary information at the link above.
