On Saturday and Sunday, visitors to the UNESCO Buzau Land Geopark can experience the first farmers’ and producers’ market in the Buzau region 🥰
A wide variety of premium products will be on offer: regional vegetables, fruit, honey, jams, locally produced cheese, sausages, regionally produced beverages, organic wine, regional beer, and much more. The producers follow a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach. There will also be gourmet street food, a wine bar, a small art exhibition, and entertainment for children.
When: Saturday, May 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Easter egg hunt for children at Brukenthal Palace in Avrig

The Romanian Easter holidays are approaching and preparations are in full swing at Brukenthal Palace in Avrig to ensure that guests enjoy an unforgettable (short) vacation.
In the restaurant of the Baroque complex, the final details of the festive menu for guests are being prepared, the accommodations offer special packages for an Easter stay at the castle, the gardens have recently been landscaped and embellished with flowers and decorations, and the outdoor terrace is also open.
On the second day of Easter (April 17), starting at 1 p.m., children will have the opportunity to participate in the “Egg Hunt,” a unique competition that will test their various skills and is sure to amuse both the participants and their parents or accompanying adults. “The egg hunt is intended for children aged 5 to 14. To take part in this fun competition, children must register at the reception desk of Brukenthal Palace Avrig (first name, last name, and age) by calling ☎️ +40 (0)726234417.

The statue of Decebalus 😍😍🇷🇴

The statue of the Dacian king Decebalus (c. 86 to 106 AD) is 55 meters high and the largest/tallest rock sculpture in Europe.
It is located on a rock formation in the Almaj Mountains on the banks of the Danube, near the village of Dubova (Mehedinți County) in the Iron Gates Natural Park (Parcul Natural Porțile de Fier).
It took 10 years, one million US dollars, and 12 sculptors to create it… and it was not conceived by the Dacian king himself, but commissioned between 1994 and 2004 by a Romanian businessman and historian.

Sarmale… a magic word and simply DELICIOUS 😍😍😍🇷🇴

Sarmale are not prepared according to the same recipe everywhere in Romania. Depending on the region and individual tastes, they vary from place to place, even in size.
Sarmale contain meat wrapped in grape leaves or pickled cabbage with other ingredients. Sarmale can also be meatless (vegetarian) with vegetables. We present a special recipe from Moldova with meat filling.
Add the following to 1 kg of minced meat (pork, beef, chicken, or a mixture):
– 4-5 medium-sized onions
– 100 grams of rice
– Salt and pepper – one teaspoon each
– Dill and parsley – to taste
– Tomato broth (150 grams)
– 4 tablespoons oil (if using chicken)
If using lean meat, add a few tablespoons of breadcrumbs or cornmeal to help bind the mixture. Mix the ingredients well and then wrap them in grape leaves or cabbage, depending on your preference.
Cook for about two (2) hours. To do this, place the sarmale close together in a pot and pour water over them. If the liquid in which the sarmale are cooking runs low, add hot water to compensate. Check after the first hour of cooking and then as often as you deem necessary.
The recipe matches the pictures. We would like to thank “Mama” Postolache 🥰 for the recipe and her daughter for her work and the pictures.
The ingredients make around 120 sarmale. These are usually eaten with smantana (sour cream) and ardei iute (hot peppers). White bread and mamaliga (made from cornmeal, similar to Italian polenta) are also served, depending on the region.
